Best Spring Bulbs for Bees
Why are Spring bulbs good for bees?
Spring bulbs are highly important for bees and everyone should be planting them in the Gardens and Allotments. The reason for this is because when the bees wake up from their winter sleep they are the first thing that are in bloom for them to collect the pollen off.
Bees are getting less and less every year so it is our job to help them as much as possible in the garden. This is just one small step that we can all do at not a high cost. Plus the bulbs will bloom every year so it’s a win win situation.
What Spring bulbs do bees like
Bees will like any bulb that produces pollen which is probably most of them. The Spring bulbs that can be planted now are:-
- Allium
- Crocus
- Daffodils
- Hyacinth
- Snowdrops
- Tulips
On my allotment I have planted all of these and look forward to sharing pictures of them when they are in bloom. I must have planted over 400 bulbs on my plot. Just my little thing to help the bees.
Next year my main objective is to do more for the wildlife.
