Planting Jerusalem artichoke
Planting Jerusalem artichoke in early spring is the best option. They need to be planted in well dug and really well fertilized soil which is weed free. The tubers need to be planted around 15cm deep and at least 60cm apart so that they have room to grow and be kept weed free. If you have large tubers these need to be cut up but as long as you have three buds on each one of the tubers that is fine.

Growing Jerusalem artichoke need very little care and maintenance so they are extremely easy to grow.. They do not need to be fed and they do not get diseases often or pests attacking them. If the area that you are growing them is exposed to wind etc, pile up the soil around the plant to around 30cms to support them as they can grow up to a massive 3 metres tall which is 10ft.
Harvesting Jerusalem artichoke
Between planting and harvesting Jerusalem artichoke it takes around 40-55 weeks. Once they are ready to harvest you need to do it the same way you do potatoes. Scrub them down and boil or steam them and then eat.
As you can see it is very easy to grow Jerusalem artichoke it just takes a long time so patience is the answer. But it is well worth the wait.
