Dwarf beans can be planted from April through to July with maybe a late crop can be planted beginning of august.

Planting Dwarf Beans

When planting early crops, these can be sown indoors from the end of April right through to mid-May. Preferably use one small pot per bean. Once they have started growing and got used to the weather outside they can then be transplanted out – make sure the frost has finished – usually the beginning of June. For Autumn crops these can be sown outside from June to the beginning of August.

Growing Dwarf Beans

For climbing French beans, they need supports to grow u p- either chicken wire, bamboo canes or netting.

Harvesting Dwarf Beans

You can harvest the beans when they are about 10cm long. You know the pods are ready when they snap off easy – also you will be able to see the beans through the pod.
